Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-5 Disorders – Clinical Version (SCID-5-CV) is a semi-structured diagnostic interview to diagnose disorders included in DSM-5®. It covers disorders previously found on Axis I - it is an updated version of SCID-I , taking into account the changes introduced in DSM-5 and encompassing the diagnostic scope which is crucial from a perspective of clinical practice. The subsequent interview modules cover mood disorders, psychotic disorders, substance use disorders, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), ADHD, and adjustment disorders (see module list and table containing the full diagnostic scope of SCID-5-CV).

Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-5 Disorders – Clinical Version is a semi-structured diagnostic interview for clinicians and researchers, designed to assess the disorders included in the DSM-5®.
Applications include:
- The full interview can be administered, for example, at psychiatric hospital admission or in forensic contexts, to ensure a comprehensive evaluation of mental status.
- Individual modules may be used when the patient presents with, or reports, symptoms characteristic of a specific diagnostic category, in order to confirm whether full criteria are met.
- Selected modules are especially useful for differential diagnosis within a given category of disorders, and for ruling out the impact of a general medical condition (somatic illness) or of substance/medication use.
- In research settings, the SCID-5-CV may be applied to select participant groups or to characterize research samples in terms of current and past psychiatric disorders.
- In educational contexts, the interview can be used for training in clinical interviewing and in the recognition of psychiatric disorders.
