European Congress of Psychology 2025

One minute reading • Monday, October 6, 2025

At the most recent European Congress of Psychology (ECP) 2025 in Pafos, the completion of the update of the document setting the quality standards for psychological tests in Europe was officially announced.

This resumes nearly three years of intensive work: from the announcement of the plans in Ljubljana (2022), through a series of working meetings, hundreds of hours of discussions and professional consultations, to the presentation of the work in progress at international congresses. We are proud to emphasize that Urszula Brzezińska, Senior Test Specialist in the Pracownia and the Polish Psychological Association delegate to the EFPA (European Federation of Psychologists’ Associations) Board of Assessment, was actively involved in this process.

The outcome is a new version of the EFPA Test Review Model (TRM), which facilitates the evaluation of the quality and utility of psychological tests, provides clear criteria for reliability, validity, and standardization, and addresses contemporary challenges, including those related to digital test reporting.

Very soon, we will also have the opportunity to discuss the significance of this model in the Polish context.

In line with the themes of the ECP, during the XXXVII Congress of the Polish Psychological Association, Urszula Brzezińska chaired a symposium entitled: “The Test as a Scientific Method, a Diagnostic Tool, and a Market Product.”

The symposium addressed, among others:

  • how EFPA standards can support the training of test users in Poland,
  • the proposal to develop a list of recommended restricted-use tests under the psychologist profession bill,
  • the business sector’s needs regarding testing tools and their psychometric quality,
  • the lack of test use in many therapeutic practices,
  • and the role of test reviews as a guiding framework for future psychologists.

The EFPA TRM v.5 document can be found here

Thanks to the work of EFPA experts, we can now speak of an important step towards strengthening the culture of psychological testing in Europe – and we are proud to have contributed to this achievement.
